Maintenance
What is commonly referred to as Alimony is called Maintenance in Colorado. In Colorado, the issue of maintenance may, in certain circumstances, be determined by a formula on a temporary basis while the case is pending. However, on a permanent basis, maintenance is not determined by a formula. It is determined according to various factors listed in the statute, which generally include the parties’ standard of living during the marriage, each spouse’s employment situation and incomes, and the need one spouse may have compared to the ability of the other spouse to pay maintenance.
